A short history
Until the early 19th century, records show that the area was largely farmland which was occasionally used for troop encampments. Development began when a London to Birmingham stagecoach called the Tally Ho stopped to change horses, giving its name to the junction. Middle-class residential streets began to branch off the High Road from the late 19th century onwards.
